brain fried procrastination
Dec. 15th, 2023 12:02 pmAfter finals week writing 30 pages between two papers since thanksgiving & catching up on all the work I had to neglect to do that I'm in like, hell I think. It's so frustrating bc i got a job at a university for the tuition discount it offers & before covid I used to get decent backup coverage anytime I was out, but since then the whole university has been devastatingly short staffed & we can't keep people in my 2 departments like, at all, so I basically get no coverage whatsoever. I took Monday off to stay home & write and I came back to over 100 emails somehow. It's taken me all week to catch up and I'm still not even 100% caught up.
Naturally instead of working on it right now I'm here, writing this. But after three straight days of working at breakneck speed the entire day with hardly a break, I'm just too tired and burnt out to keep up that pace. I'm doing my best to get through it all but man.... this sucks.
Next week we have 4 days before our winter break & I want to get through as much as I can before then so I can be nicely caught up. Even if I can just leave my inbox in the single digits I'd be happy....
enough complaining. Last year we went to Fan Expo in Philly with a bunch of friends & we're looking to go again next year in May. Last year I dressed as The Guide from What we do in the Shadows & a friend dressed as Nadja. My sister dressed as uncle fester and it was so funny omg. I also did horror Alice from the Madness Returns game & we did a casual day of animal crossing inspired outfits.
Planning for May, I'm going to put together a Prey 2017 Morgan Yu costume. I bought a red jumpsuit the other day & soon I can start sewing & making additions to it to turn it into what I want. Hopefully! We're gonna do a Nerdy Prudes Must Die musical day where I'm gonna be grace chastity (I was going to do richie before we realized dressing as an awkward anime fan would not be an obvious costume at a convention). I really wanted to do a summer outfit Macready from The Thing lmao but the look isn't complete without the giant hat & I don't have giant hat money. I think the third costume instead is gonna be cheap Stranger Things Vecna morph suit wearing a Scoops uniform. It's something we joked about last year but it would be so funny I have to actually do it.
