traveling by greyhound for long distances isn't my favorite way to move around but it's cheaper than flying and cheaper and easier than owning a car so it is what it is! Travel days Thursday and today were grueling (Thursday was the first day of my period, it was truly the worst of all possibilities) but it wasn't too bad. The trip back was soooo long bc rather than a straight trip (which I swear I booked) we went from DC, Baltimore, York, Harrisburg, then a rest stop and finally Pittsburgh.

Last year when I took this trip it was a straight shot both ways with only like a few riders overall. We could all take two seats to ourselves and really lay out and nap. This time rides were packed. A stinky man sat next to me on the ride down and kept falling asleep on me. Idk, maybe they're consolidating more rides to make up for gas prices or something.

The trip was good! We hung around by Tony's place in Nova and got some decent food, then went down to Richmond for concert night Friday and hanging out Saturday. They kept saying I booked us in a Barbarian (the movie) house bc it was a decent house surrounded by a handful of kind of run down houses. But it wasn't a bad area overall & the stay was decent enough. The room was cold though & booked for three adults, so it had a queen bed and a futon..... but only the bed had blankets.

I had to sleep in a hoodie i bought at the concert and with like clothes over my legs to sleep on the uncomfortable ass futon..... I was like 10 yrs ago this would fly but maybe next time I will splurge a LITTLE extra lmao. 35 god dang years old I can buy a place that gives me blankets at LEAST. Hotel rooms were wildly expensive though even with the friends & family pricing I have access to! 35 years old or not I won't be paying up to my ears for 1 night at a hotel.

Saturday was good! I saw [personal profile] saucywinks & family for like, half the day. Had a good long in person hang out after too long without, saw her new house for the first time, met the dog! It was chill, perfect weather, good hangs, good food. Felt like a summer day of an era without adult issues you know? A true vacation day away.

VA is nice but my god it's so sunny and I'm not used to it. I think Pgh is like, the 5th? most overcast city in the us or something? I was so blinded the whole time I was there, it just never stopped. Got home today & it was immediately 100% cloud covered, it was such a relief.

Reality picks back up tomorrow :( I got home and immediately was back to it. Cleaning up the litterbox right away, had to buy some necessities (and some non necessities lmao i got the nitvana the band movie dvd and also a sweatshirt WHATEVER) so I think I spent as much money since getting home as I did while I was on the trip.

I shouldn't have TOO much to catch up on work-wise since I technically only took one day off, work was closed for everyone Friday. But I'm doubtful bc I know the dweeb asses at my job were still emailing me on Friday asking me to buy some stupid science crap for them, so I'll still have a backlog. Whatever, I'll work at the pace I always do and no faster.

Fennec is glad we're home! and I'm glad we're home too.

Lunch was nice today! Tony refused to let me pay my portion since my birthday is this week, so that was even nicer. Even though literally just yesterday I said I was going to get a picture at the conveyor belt sushi place, I completely forgot to. I just got in there and was in eating mode I guess.

We stopped by urban outfitters bc we showed up early & some of the 90s stuff back in fashion is good, some of it is highly questionable. UO charging 70 bucks and up for a grunge look is the most highly questionable though to be honest, it defeats the entire purpose of the original grunge movement & it really yucks me out.

Pittsburgh has this thing of differently decorated dinosaur statues all around town & I saw this one!

It used to be parked outside of WPXI (the Mr. Rogers building) for years, so I got to see it all the time, then randomly they moved it downtown where I avoid ever going if I can avoid it. Apparently it's moved again! It was like seeing an old friend.

My first costume for Philly in May is done:

I have to keep working on the Prey outfit. I have the jumpsuit & it looks great. I've been carefully removing the front pockets & then I have to work on mapping out where I'm going to sew the black fabric over. I've never sewn clothing before but this is more alteration than creation, so at least I'm not working from scratch.

Parents sent me some money to buy myself a birthday gift from them. I bought a couple of crochet sweater patterns bc I'm desperate for some new sweaters but never find anything I like in stores, so I'll make my own dang sweaters.

back to work tomorrow :(

Finished archiving my FIRST livejournal (2006-2009) that concluded right after I graduated high school.... Looking at old pictures of myself is crazy. I'm gonna post some here just to share.

I actually just last weekend bleached the ends of my hair & got a nice light pink. I think I'm liking it! I cut my hair toooooo short but I think once it grows in some I'll like it more. I had to go natural last december (before then I had bleached ends dyed dark green) for a friend's wedding, and it took this long for me to go back to something fun. See mom, it's not a phase after all

My friend Shannon who I met like, literally day 1 of college & has been a constant ever since then messaged me last week about meeting up. It's been a while since I've seen her with school being busy & her being busy planning a wedding and stuff, so of course I wanted to meet up! She wanted to try this new conveyor belt sushi place that recently moved into the city & I was so on board! I'd tried to go with my sister & her bf Tony and our other friends Ryan & Tibbe a few months ago, but it was so crowded we gave up on it entirely.

Only... a couple of hours after I said yes to Shannon, Ryan and Tibbe reached out to us about trying to go again this weekend too. So I went Friday and I'm going again tomorrow.... I'm not that mad, cause it was really good food, but I'm a little mad cause it was expensive.

Looking back over my LJ I'm realizing I don't take as many pictures as I used to all the time, and part of it is because I usually am just doing boring things, but so what! Boring things are nice too! There were pictures I just took of the inside of our old house & even those were nice to see since we all moved out in 2014 (thank god). I'll make it an aim to get into taking pictures again. I just wish cameras weren't se HD these days lol at least when the digital camera was a little crappy you couldn't see every single little flaw
