back from virginia!
Jun. 21st, 2026 08:03 pmtraveling by greyhound for long distances isn't my favorite way to move around but it's cheaper than flying and cheaper and easier than owning a car so it is what it is! Travel days Thursday and today were grueling (Thursday was the first day of my period, it was truly the worst of all possibilities) but it wasn't too bad. The trip back was soooo long bc rather than a straight trip (which I swear I booked) we went from DC, Baltimore, York, Harrisburg, then a rest stop and finally Pittsburgh.
Last year when I took this trip it was a straight shot both ways with only like a few riders overall. We could all take two seats to ourselves and really lay out and nap. This time rides were packed. A stinky man sat next to me on the ride down and kept falling asleep on me. Idk, maybe they're consolidating more rides to make up for gas prices or something.
The trip was good! We hung around by Tony's place in Nova and got some decent food, then went down to Richmond for concert night Friday and hanging out Saturday. They kept saying I booked us in a Barbarian (the movie) house bc it was a decent house surrounded by a handful of kind of run down houses. But it wasn't a bad area overall & the stay was decent enough. The room was cold though & booked for three adults, so it had a queen bed and a futon..... but only the bed had blankets.
I had to sleep in a hoodie i bought at the concert and with like clothes over my legs to sleep on the uncomfortable ass futon..... I was like 10 yrs ago this would fly but maybe next time I will splurge a LITTLE extra lmao. 35 god dang years old I can buy a place that gives me blankets at LEAST. Hotel rooms were wildly expensive though even with the friends & family pricing I have access to! 35 years old or not I won't be paying up to my ears for 1 night at a hotel.
Saturday was good! I saw
saucywinks & family for like, half the day. Had a good long in person hang out after too long without, saw her new house for the first time, met the dog! It was chill, perfect weather, good hangs, good food. Felt like a summer day of an era without adult issues you know? A true vacation day away.
VA is nice but my god it's so sunny and I'm not used to it. I think Pgh is like, the 5th? most overcast city in the us or something? I was so blinded the whole time I was there, it just never stopped. Got home today & it was immediately 100% cloud covered, it was such a relief.
Reality picks back up tomorrow :( I got home and immediately was back to it. Cleaning up the litterbox right away, had to buy some necessities (and some non necessities lmao i got the nitvana the band movie dvd and also a sweatshirt WHATEVER) so I think I spent as much money since getting home as I did while I was on the trip.
I shouldn't have TOO much to catch up on work-wise since I technically only took one day off, work was closed for everyone Friday. But I'm doubtful bc I know the dweeb asses at my job were still emailing me on Friday asking me to buy some stupid science crap for them, so I'll still have a backlog. Whatever, I'll work at the pace I always do and no faster.
Fennec is glad we're home! and I'm glad we're home too.
