world's worst roommates evicted????
Jul. 16th, 2026 04:32 pmWe moved in here in 2018 (August) and spent like, a normal amount of time here before covid, you know? We both have office jobs and busy after work hours and a small amount of personal time followed by sleep so we could do it again the next day, right? We kept it clean but weren't trapped inside all the time for the two years before covid.
Anyway, all that to say that in 2020 spring and summer, we realized we had ants. I suspect it was the first year of them, because I don't think we would have gone some of a summer and a full spring/summer before that without noticing them at all. They were in the bathroom, oddly, and in the dining room on the other side of the bathroom wall.
This pissed me off for several reasons. For one, we live on the fourth floor. Wtf do you meant these ants scaled the full height of this building from the outside to come in and live in our wall and be in our bathroom? of all places?? there's not even FOOD in there. Second, I have ant trauma lmao. At our last apartment which was in the basement we also got ants extremely bad, they were everywhere and on everything. They got in my bed, on my body, just everywhere.
It's been an ongoing battle the past 5 years. I've tried every poison possible, and then in 2022 we got a cat, so I had to narrow my options to things that could be considered pet safe. Nothing has ever fully gotten rid of them as much as we've tried, but we've at least kept them under control.
But this year..... I haven't seen a single ant so far since it's started getting warm. I'm still untrusting of it... like maybe they just forgot.... or they got sneaker and I just haven't seen them.... but I think maybe they're gone? I wonder if it was the extremely cold winter. I wonder if it was that time we left out balcony door open for like ten days in december and it was freezing cold inside when we got back (I say we. It was Sarah. But if it's the reason the ants are gone I'll let her off the hook)
