archiving and archiving and archiving
Jan. 14th, 2024 07:26 pmSo I used LJ for probably....6ish years? 2006 to probably around 2012, around the time I did a study abroad in college and got way too busy to update often. Plus by then twitter was the big thing, and I was on tumblr too, LJ was uninteresting in comparison.
The site is just sitting there though, my journals are sitting there. I got nervous about it, not about being found, but about just disappearing one day. My live thoughts and feelings and reactions during my most formative years just getting deleted bc the site can disappear at any time? Idk!! I didn't like it, so I'm out here archiving my posts from the whole time. It's not the cleanest style of saving, but it'll get the job done I guess.
The posts export as an xml file and I fully like, don't know how to view them where they're displayed properly? I have to go back through manually to save the images shared to the posts because they're all soooo old now and definitely are not saved elsewhere. Which is rough, they were on photobucket and some of them have been deleted, so RIP to those I guess.
It's been funny and distressing to see how much i have and haven't changed since then. I was 15 when I started that journal and I'll be 33 next week... Crazy is all I can think to say.
